Is your family life chaotic and stressful?
Are you worried about your teenager?
Do you want deeper connection and more ease in your relationships?
How I Can Help: I understand that some people are looking to heal, others want change or peace in their families, some ache to grow personally and many are looking to create more enriching relationships with those they love or work with. I often help individual adult and adolescent clients reclaim their lives from fear, regain control over themselves and create new choices and possibilities for their lives. With couples and families, our work together often involves developing new communication skills and understandings, deepening connection and intimacy and counteracting the negative effects of destructive relationship patterns.
When working with adolescents, adults, and families, I partner with my clients and draw from an eclectic array of therapeutic tools in order to best address the challenges you’re facing, and what you personally want from your therapy experience. Through our work together, my clients have been able to make powerful changes in their lives by reducing stress, increasing self-awareness and confidence, improving communication and relationship skills, healing old wounds, and growing themselves into the people they want to be.
My Approach: I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (Lic.# MFC 38982) with 17 years of combined experience in the counseling and education fields, committed to helping you work towards your therapy goals in a focused and thorough manner. My work is anchored in a strength-based philosophy that draws upon your own wisdom and experience to create personalized pathways to growth and change. In an atmosphere of both compassion and challenge, you’ll find me to be an active, engaged therapist. Clients say they most appreciate my humor, my genuine warmth, feeling listened to and understood, and the way I appeal to their thoughtfulness to discover new possibilities.
Education and Specialties: I have a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology as well as a Specialization in Expressive Art Therapy. For interested clients, Art Therapy can act as a direct line to the unconscious and serve as a powerful tool for self-expression, self-discovery and healing. Additionally I’m trained and able to use a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family/Marital, Narrative/Postmodern, Jungian Symbolism, Humanistic/Existential Approaches and Solution Focused Brief Therapies.
Getting Started: Call for a free phone consultation. My office is a comfortable, inviting sanctuary located in the heart of downtown Santa Cruz. Sliding scale fees offered.
