I have over 25 years of experience in therapeutic bodywork, and am still in awe of the marvelous human body and its capacity for healing and renewal. It is a great privilege to assist people in recovering from pain and injury, and help them deeply relax and restore well-being! Each session is tailored to the individual, with touch ranging from deep to subtle (depending on your preferences and needs), and can include the modalities listed below. Sessions may include instruction in self care, including stretches and exercises.
My varied background, years of experience and knowledge of anatomy and physiology have given me a broad understanding and unique expertise to use in my teaching and therapeutic work. I receive patient referrals from M.D.s, osteopaths, chiropractors, physical therapists, acupuncturists, and dentists. I work with your other providers when necessary to optimize your healing. I look forward to working with you!
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet profound method of working with the body to promote its own internal healing mechanisms and improve the functioning of the central nervous system. CST is soothing, non-invasive, and profoundly relaxing. It is effective for many dysfunctions, including acute pain, chronic pain, TMJ problems, whiplash, low back pain, repetitive stress injuries, headaches, migraines, scoliosis and immune system problems.
In Trigger Point Release, the therapist locates and deactivates Trigger Points, small contracted areas in a muscle resulting from injury or chronic strain that can cause referred pain. For instance, a trigger point in the shoulder can cause pain in the arm and hand. Direct, constant pressure on the TP allows it to release, relieving pain and restoring full mobility.
Massage cleanses and relaxes your muscles, helping them to recover faster from hard work or strain, while making them less susceptible to fatigue and injury. It helps to improve the alignment of your body, easing strain on joints, and improving circulation, strength and flexibility. Massage also improves the function of the lymph and immune systems.

Ariana Newcomer has both anatomic and intuitive knowledge of the body, deeply skilled hands, and a kind heart. These characteristics make her an excellent massage therapist. When I send patients to her, I know that she will understand and assist in the healing process. - Kim R. Beecher, D.C.
Ariana has an exceptional knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and excellent clinical judgement to apply theory to practice. She collaborates well with physicians and other clinicians in treating a range of medical conditions. Her background as a dancer and a singer makes her particularly adept at treating artists. As a violinist and violist, I can attest to Ariana's help in mobilizing and reeducating the back and upper body muscles needed to perform the complex tasks of making music. - Valerie Bengal, M.D.
My surgeon and physical therapist couldn't believe how fast I recovered after knee replacement. It was due to Ariana's amazing massages. Not only did I shorten my recovery time, the massages felt like heaven. - Pam Wyzga
I am constantly amazed by Ariana's ability to listen to what is going on with my body. Her extensive knowledge hs translated that listening into a treatment program that is both gentle and healing. ~ Lisa Benson
In the years I have worked professionally with Ariana, I have found her to be one of the most - in fact the most - knowledgeable, intelligent creative and resourceful woman I know. Her bodywork is excellent.
- Richard M. Kowal, D.C.
My Background: I received my Massage Therapist degree in 1984 from The Swedish Institute (New York City), and have extensive experience in injury rehabilitation and work with chronic pain, both in clinics and in private practice. I have taught yoga and back-care classes. I grew up in New England and graduated from Harvard University cum laude in 1977. After college, I danced professionally in New York City for 10 years, touring the USA with the Mary Anthony Dance Theatre and other companies. After moving to the West Coast in 1987, I shifted to solo voice. I have sung professionally in regional opera and with area symphonies and ensembles, and teach voice privately. I am also a provider of several therapeutic listening programs. I am a mom of two teenaged boys, and love working with kids and adults.
