"Dreams are the workshop of evolution" --Sandor Ferenczi
"A deeper conscious encounter with dreams and myths can nurture creative imagination, creative self realization and expression, compassion, and courage in ways that no other effort of attention can achieve." --Rev. Jeremy Taylor
Dream Work Facilitator

As a dream worker I explore with you the meanings in your dreams in order to strengthen your personal health and wholeness. This is usually in an hour long telephone consultation, although if you live near Santa Cruz, California it may be person to person. I also provide ongoing dream work groups and day or weekend long workshops which create and strengthen community. Dream work promotes awareness, develops intuition and creativity, and evolves consciousness.
After an academic career as a college teacher of english and women studies, punctuated by a decade in financial services, I became a certified gestalt practitioner and a certified dream work facilitator. I have been a professional dream worker since 2004 and continue to be enthralled by the richness in dreams and their power to affect the individual and the community. When people tell me they can't use my services because they don't recall their dreams, I tell them they will remember when they talk to people who do.
The approach I use in working with dreams is sometimes called "projective" dream work because it is based in the understanding that no one but the dreamer knows what the dream means and commentary from all others arises from--and is limited by--who they are. In other words, it is a projection. I like to call this approach "collaborative."
My doctorate is in comparative literature from UC Berkeley with an emphasis on poetry and I earned my certificate in dream work from the Marin Institute of Projective Dreamwork (MIPD). I am a member of the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD) and follow its Code of Ethics.
Q. Who best benefits from dream work?
A. Everyone, of course, since all human beings dream and dreams are a reliable source of useful information for all dreamers. Intentional and ongoing work with dreams, however, can be especially useful when you are in a life transition, when you need to make changes and are "stuck," or when you are confronted with a life problem particularly difficult to solve.
Q. What if I have a dream I'm curious about, can I talk to you about just that dream?
A. Of course. A one hour consultation can satisfy your curiousity about that one dream, but is not likely to be enough to nourish your personal growth. This is why I prefer my clients to commit to a minimum of three sessions. That way, you can learn the collaborative approach and begin to appreciate your own rich dream imagery and the issues and values they point to.
Q. You speak above of dreams "evolving consciousness." What does that mean?
A. My work is based on Jungian principles. Our dreams have multiple meanings and always have some archetypal energy that arises from the collective unconscious. We are all interconnected so that an individual's dream can affect the collective which contributes to the evolution of consciousness. Awareness is healing and dream work is awareness work.
